The ‘PCJ Delhi Couture Week (DCW) 2012 in association with Aircel’ has started from yesterday, and will go on till 12th of August. The show is the only platform in the city that showcases the best Indian couture design. This five-day event is taking place at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. The event does an excellent job of capturing the best of the fashion industry in the highly fashionable city of Delhi. This is the third edition of the show that is organized by FDCI.
Apart from the well-known socialites, various Bollywood actors are heading towards the capital city of India for the DCW, where the designers are traced back in the history of India, when every garment talked about the creativity, opulence, fantasies and fine artworks, in the ages of Maharajas and Moguls. During this show filled with glamour and glitz plus buzzling business activity, the top Indian designers are trying to create the magic by blending their designs with the contemporary art, and displaying their unique collections.
Sunil Sethi, the president of FDCI said, “We want to provide a platform for the finest fashion designers in India to network. Thus, they’ll be able to exchange the ideas and will open up the Indian fashion industry to new developments. The Couture week is about to bring the best designers of India and the best moments that the Indian fashion industry has ever seen.”
Eleven of the renowned Indian designers JJ Valaya, Anamika Khanna, Manish Arora, Ashima-Leena, Gaurav Gupta, Anju Modi, Manish Malhotra, Shantanu & Nikhil and Manav Gangwani are presenting their collections during the Delhi Couture Week. The show kicked-off with Varun Bahl as he displayed his collection at 7 PM last evening. These top designers are expected to mesmerize the fashionable audience with their wonderful creativity.
Both the designers JJ Valaya and Varun Bahl who opened the Couture Week decided to stay away from the traditional Indian couture designs with their designs and works displaying the black and other darker shades, while JJ Valaya showed his Azrak collection. Even though it was a low key start to the event as the Varun Bahl displayed his attires which were a smooth blend of tradition and the modern, the fashionable audience appreciated the work saying that the fabric used in his work is going to be the talking point. Sunanda Pushkar, Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna, Manav Gangwani, Poonam Bhagat were shimmering in the limelight of the front row during the show. While the designer trends and elegance weren’t only the highlight of the ramp, but also of the ramp guests were equally stylish and graceful.
In the coming days, some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry will also be walking the ramp, as Sharmila Tagore will be seen adorning the Ashima-Leena’s attires today, Madhuri Dixit-Nene will be making her ramp debut in the DCW for designer Anju Modi tomorrow. Besides, on the day four of the event, Katrina Kaif is expected to be the show-stopper for Manish Malhotra, while Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia Bhatt, will be cheering for the designer. On the last day, Manav Gangwani is planning to bring the Bollywood stars for his show, while Sabyasachi Mukherjee is bringing Sridevi as his front row guest.
So all you fashion loving people, rush to the Hotel Taj Palace to catch the action at DCW. Because we got a feeling, that these are gonna be a highly fashionable 5-days.
