After the Delhi Couture Week and Lakme Fashion week, it is the time for India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2012 in Mumbai. This 5 day glamourous event started on Saturday and has already seen various Bollywood celebrities in the attendant along with some of the most beautiful jewelry design on display. Together the jewelers and the Bollywood divas are charming the audience at the event.
It is the third version of this event which has been organized by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). It is lining up the best Indian jewelry houses as well as 20 upcoming designers. The well-known designer Vikram Phadnis was showcasing his collection on Sunday in association with Gitanjali Gems. He presented his collection of net saris, anarkalis and embroidered lehengas. Along with these wonderful attires were the mesmerizing diamonds and emerald sets paired with traditional Kundan and polka pieces.
The show started with various film starts walking the ramp along with the show ambassador Sonam Kapoor and Hema Malini. The stylish Sonam Kapoor was wearing a monotone green gown and coupled it with a diamond necklace, while the yesteryear diva chose to wear a sari. “One of the most important part of any fashion style is the jewelry. And the reason why India is such an amazing place with a wholesome jewelry collection, it’s because of the new designs and a variety of jewelry from all parts of India.”
The show kick-started with the Sufi Singer Kavita Seth’s performance, and even Sonu Nigam was a part of with his soulful presentation, as well as he also made his ramp debut.
Mugdha Gose too walked the ramp for the jewellery house Dwarkadas Chandumal in an all-black attired complemented by the strinking diamond and ruby necklace. Moreover, there are few more designers who showcased their collections with this brand, while each piece was standing out with its wonderful cuts and texture.
There is much more to come from the show, as in the coming days Sushmita Sen, Malaika Arora and Dia Mirza are expected to be a show stopper. Even though the event is yet to experience a packed house, but it looks all rosy for the coming days.
