Held on 27th January 2013, Sunday, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards red carpet showcased visible trends for Oscars and upcoming season. The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles was covered with beautiful blacks as Anne Hathaway in Giambatista Haute Couture Naya Riviera in a stunning Donna Karan Atelier design, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery in sheer trimmed Chado Ralph Rucci gown, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler in Oscar de la Renta and Zuhair Murad dresses respectively.
However, returning themes spotted at the event were of the navy and midnight blues. The winner of ‘Female Actor in a Leading Role’ Jennifer Lawrence was in Dior Couture blue brigade form fitting gown.
A strong contender was Amanda Seyfried, dressed in a Zac Posen mermaid silhouette gown which had sculptural tiered layers at the bottom. Marion Cotillard showcased Dior’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection with a white simple bandeau top and a blue satin skirt. Nicole Kidman also followed the trend with Vivienne Westwood Couture midnight blue.
However, few stars adopted for vibrant colours for a visual breather. Frieda Pinto carried a fuchsia Roland Mouret outfit, while Lea Michele went for a pink Valentino. Sarah Hyland went for a purple Dolce & Gabbana print. Black & White are expected to become a strong trend in spring as spotted on the red carpet. Julianne Moore, Red Carpet pro was spotted with Chanel’s fall 2011 couture with plunging neckline and floral appliqué work.
These SAG Awards are expected to be neck to neck with the Oscars, but was not so this time as far as the couture is considered.
